YOU HAVE THE POWER

Saturday 4th October- Memorial of Saint Francis of Assisi

Reflection: Luke 10: 17-24

YOU HAVE THE POWER

Christ tells his disciples in our gospel reading today that they have been given power to trample upon snakes and scorpions and to overcome the powers of the enemy and nothing will harm them; we share in that promise too as Christians as long as we follow Christ as faithful disciples.

Why then do we run helter skelter, from one prayer house to the other looking for power when we ourselves have been empowered by our Lord? Dear friends, the victory over the world is our faith (1 John 5:4). Let us put on the full armour of God – the helmet of salvation, the breastplate of righteousness, the belt of truth, and our feet with the readiness to spread the gospel of peace. Let us hold up the shield of faith, and our sword, the word of God. (Ephesians 6: 10-18). When we clad ourselves with the divine armour we’ll exercise the authority we have over the devil without fear or intimidation.

Remember, there is no cause for fear for those who stay and trust in the Lord (Psalm 125:1).

PRAYER: In the name of Jesus, I use that authority within me to speak goodness and favour of God into my live and I believe it to be so. Amen.

KNOW YOUR FAITH: YOUCAT 80 – Why is Mary a Virgin?

God willed that Jesus Christ should have a true human mother but only God himself as his Father, because he wanted to make a new beginning that could be credited to him alone and not to earthly forces.

HIDE A TREASURE: “Therefore take the whole armour of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” Ephesians 6:13 RSV-CE
