WHEN THE WIND IS AGAINST YOU

Reflection: Mark 6: 45 -52

WHEN THE WIND IS AGAINST YOU

We are all on a voyage, sailing through life. As it is the desire of every sailor to arrive safely at the shore so is it ours. But quite unfortunately not all end that way. Both maritime and human voyages have their own tales of miseries and mishaps. The wind is a needed force in our life voyage. When it blows in the direction of our destination, we are on a path of least resistance, we expend less energy and this quickens our arrival at the shore. This is the wind of blessing; the wind of favour; the wind that separates us from our equals. This is the sort of wind that delights us all.

However, there also exists the contrary wind. The kind that assails with misfortune and adversity; frustrating the best of man’s resolve.Dearest in Christ, does this relate to the current happenings in your life? If it does, you are not alone. Please do not give up. If Christ came to the aid of His disciples as we have in today’s gospel reading, He will surely come to your aid too. You will not experience a shipwreck!

However, this question becomes pertinent: Is Christ aboard the ship of your life? If He is not, you need to invite Him over (Revelation 3:20; Matthew 11:28). You need to trust Him with that situation and ultimately yield your life to Him. As He comes on board, He will calm that storm. Perhaps you already have Him aboard your ship; courage! Do not be afraid, speak to that situation in faith (Matthew 8:23-27) and act according to the leading of the Holy Spirit. You will sing a new song in the end! (Psalm 98:1)

PRAYER: Contrary winds ravaging my life, peace; be still in the name of Jesus! Amen.

KNOW YOUR FAITH: YOUCAT 67: What is sin? At the core of sin is a rejection of God and the refusal to accept his love. This is manifested in a disregard for his commandments.

HIDE A TREASURE: “Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in Him, and He in God” 1 John 4:15 RSV-CE

  1. Lord, you will keep him in perfect peace, he whose mind is stayed on you. Because he trusts in you. Isaiah 26:3

When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through the rivers of difficulties, you will not drown – Isaiah 43:2

Dear Jesus, give to all our youths who seek you with sincere heart the perfect peace they desire. Though we may be tossed around, may we never be drowned.

Dearest Lord fulfil your promise for us.
